Jenna Coleman Quits 'Doctor Who' for ITV Queen Victoria Series? Clara Oswald Season 9 RUMORS

Companions on BBC America's hit sci-fi/fantasy series Doctor Who hold a special place in viewers' hearts, but Whovians around the world understand that they can't stay on the series forever. Heck, the lead actors don't even last that long anymore! With that in mind, we're not surprised to hear even more rumors surrounding Clara Oswald actress Jenna Coleman allegedly planning to quit the show for the opportunity to portray Queen Victoria for a new ITV drama. Though this report hasn't been confirmed, rumors of Coleman leaving the series aren't new. Will season nine feature the end of Clara and the Doctor's adventures in the upcoming 2015 episodes? Coleman joined the show back when Matt Smith was still leading the series, but since his departure, her tenure as Clara was always in question. After plenty of rumors spread from last year all the way up to this summer of her leaving, it was confirmed that she was sticking around for season nine - but what about afterwards?

According to The Mirror, Coleman has been offered the role of Queen Victoria in a yet-to-be-titled ITV drama series. The network has yet to confirm this news, but a recent interview with Radio Times featured Coleman speaking about the limited time one can portray a companion on the show (via IGN).

"You're in Doctor Who knowing it will never last," the actress said earlier this week. "It's constantly regenerating, so you want to make your time count and enjoy the adventure for the fleeting time you're here."

Radio Times is suggesting that Coleman could announce her departure at the end of this week, ahead of the season premiere on Sept. 19.
