Five Predictions for Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar at WWE 'Hell in a Cell' 2015
If you've watched WWE programming in the last week, then you know that Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker will square off for presumably the last time at Hell in a Cell on October 25 inside the steel structure. We've got five predictions for this contest, so let's break this thing down.
This will third and likely final clash between the two titans in the last year and a half. Brock famously ended The Undertaker's undefeated streak when he emerged victorious at WrestleMania 30 in April 2014.
At SummerSlam in late August 2015, Undertaker beat Brock Lesnar for the first time in his career when he made Lesnar pass out in the Hell's Gate submission move. Of course, this win came with plenty of controversy, as Lesnar had previously cinched in the Kimura Lock and made Undertaker tap out for the first time in his career, but the referee was checking Brock's shoulders on the mat, and the timekeeper inexplicably called for the bell. In the ensuing confusion, Taker low blowed Brock and locked in the submission.
So what's in store for the rubber match in this series? Let's dive into our five predictions to find out. Please note that these are just our thoughts on what will happen. These are not confirmed facts, though we will use spoilers and rumors as necessary.
1) There will be a major spot involving the cell itself.
Let's just call it like it is. The Hell in a Cell match has been neutered since WWE went PG. And in some ways, that's a good thing. I don't need to see buckets of blood and men literally risking their lives by flinging themselves off of 20-foot high cages. But at the same time, the cell is no longer the ominous and foreboding structure it once was.
But this is a different animal. This is Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar. This is Undertaker's match, the one that he made famous. He's going to use that cell.
I'm not saying that Taker will throw Lesnar off the roof of the cell. I'm not saying that Lesnar will get chokeslammed through the roof. But there will be some major spot involving the cell. Maybe the two combatants will break the wall because the cell can't contain them.
2) There will be blood.
This is Undertaker's first match outside of a Big Four pay-per-view since Bragging Rights in 2010 and, in a way, this feels like a final tour for the Deadman. So it's only fitting that the tour includes a brutal Hell in a Cell match. And that will include some blood.
Lesnar bled during the SummerSlam match, so there's precedent for one or both men to use some color again in this match. When these two fight, it just feels different than the garden variety WWE matches we get nowadays. It feels like to juggernauts clashing rather than two competitors in a ring. And the blood helps build that experience.
3) Paul Heyman will get involved somehow.
The previous Hell in a Cell match in 2002 between Lesnar and Taker was gory and violent, but one of the more memorable moments didn't even involve the two men. Paul Heyman got involved in the match, and Taker made him pay for it to the point that The Advocate actually bled. I don't expect Heyman to wear a crimson mask at the next pay-per-view, but I do expect some recreation of this spot.
4) This will be the final match between the two men.
After SummerSlam, many fans expected Lesnar and Taker to square off for a third and final time at WrestleMania 32 in Dallas, but now that is clearly not the case. It's still possible that the two men still have that match, but a fourth match in this series would just feel odd and out of place. They each have a win over each other in the last year-plus, so this will be settled inside the cell once and for all.
5) Lesnar will win thanks to interference by Sting.
This one is pure wishful thinking, but I still want to see Sting vs. Taker at WrestleMania 32 in a double retirement match. So let's set it up with this match.
Lesnar is about to win, but Taker pulls off some desperate move (maybe a low blow) to turn the tables back in his favor. Just when it looks like the Deadman is about to finally overcome his white whale through less than savory means, The Icon appears in the ring to stop him. Finally, the showdown we have wanted for twenty years comes to fruition.
The next night on Raw, Sting explains that he's disappointed that Taker, a man he has always respected despite never working in the same company, would stoop to such depths to overcome the hurdle of Brock Lesnar. Taker could counter by saying he had to do all he could to win.
More likely, Lesnar wins this match because he's got more miles left on him than Taker does. But hey, a guy can dream.
