Much has been said and written about the Season 4 premiere of Arrow, but now some information is starting to come out about Episode 2, entitled "The Candidate." The official description has been released, so let's see what's inside.

Comic Book Movie has posted the official plot synopsis, which you can read below. The episode features Jeri Ryan as a guest star, as well as the beginning of a plot thread that should run for multiple episodes.

"JERI RYAN GUEST STARS; INTRODUCING ECHO KELLUM - When an old family friend, Jessica Danforth (guest star Jeri Ryan), tells Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Thea (Willa Holland) that she is going to run for mayor, both Queens are concerned considering the last three mayors have been murdered. Despite their protests, Jessica makes her announcement so the Green Arrow and Speedy vow to protect her. Meanwhile, Thea begins to exhibit effects from the Lazarus Pit. In addition, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) is faced with a tough business decision and looks to one of her employees, Curtis Holt (guest star Echo Kellum), for help. John Behring directed the episode written by Marc Guggenheim and Keto Shimizu."

You do have to chuckle a bit at how casually the synopsis describes how "the last three mayors have been murdered."

So it looks like Oliver Queen is getting right back to work as the Green Arrow when he returns to Star City. This seems like more of a one-off plot that is unconnected to the main villain, Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), but that's typically how Arrow operates in the early portion of its season, anyway.

However, the reveal about Thea is interesting. We knew from cast and crew interviews that the Lazarus Pit storyline would play out into Season 4, so it's nice to see it starting right away. When she first emerged from the pit last season, she was feral and attacked Oliver. Then, she suffered from selective amnesia, but returned to normal after that. So it remains to be seen what sort of effects the resurrection has on her now.

Finally, it looks like this will be the debut of Echo Kellum as Mr. Terrific, who in the comics is the third smartest man in the world.
