Top 5 Predictions for 'Supernatural' Season 11: Spoilers, Rumors and More

Season 11 of Supernatural will premiere on Wednesday, October 7, which means we have a little more than a week to dissect the spoilers and rumors about the upcoming episodes. We've got five predictions for the new season right here, so let's get to it and list out what we think is in store for the Winchester brothers, Castiel and, of course, Crowley.

The show celebrated its milestone 200th episode last season, so to continue on to Season 11 is truly a remarkable feat. It also looks the show is reaching back to its roots as it barrels into its 11th year.

We know that the main enemy of Season 11 will be The Darkness, an ancient and powerful evil. So ancient, in fact, that God actually battled it before he flipped on the lights in the universe. One wonders exactly how Sam and Dean Winchester (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) could hope to battle such a powerful threat.

The brothers accidentally released The Darkness when they had Rowena remove the Mark of Cain from Dean. The mark acted as a lock that was keeping The Darkness at bay, and without that lock, it was literally let loose upon the world. At the end of the Season 10 finale, lightning began striking all over the place, and a great black cloud swept over the land, including Sam, Dean and the Impala.

So what happens next? Let's dive into our predictions. Keep in mind these are just our opinions and guesses, not confirmed facts. We will, however, use reports and other sources as necessary.

1) The Darkness will manifest itself like The First Evil in Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

We've heard from showrunner Jeremy Carver that many old and familiar faces will return to Supernatural in Season 11, though he has not said how exactly they would be integrated into the show. Our guess is that The Darkness, in its great and almost infinite power, will take the form of former allies and enemies in order to torment the Winchesters.

This would be very similar to how The First Evil worked in Season 7 of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The villain took the form of each of the previous seasons' Big Bads, as well as several of Buffy's friends and foes. It even, for a significant time, took the form of Buffy herself.

So expect The Darkness, which has only been a dark and formless shape thus far, to act in much the same way.

2) God and Lucifer will return.

The first five seasons of Supernatural built to a showdown with Lucifer, and the fifth season in particular was all about the character. Therefore, it might sound crazy to bring back such a major villain as a returning character for Season 11, but it can be done.

Bear in mind also that God was a big part of Season 5, even though he did not appear. Or did he? Many fans, this one included, believe that Chuck (Rob Benedict) is God, and Chuck reappeared in the 200th episode as the creator of Supernatural.

So could one or both characters return for Season 11? Consider what Padalecki told Entertainment Weekly recently.

"I think [the Darkness] certainly opens the door for Lucifer and/or God to pop up," he said. "We're certainly going back to that and going a bit more biblical and having our take on the writings that didn't make it into the Bible."

"Since we know God's a scribe, we may have to invite him along for the ride," he added.

We agree.

3) Sam and Dean will actually be on the same page.

For two seasons now, the Winchester brothers have been at odds despite their travels across the country together. Dean lied to Sam about letting an angel possess him in Season 9, and that lack of trust carried through to Season 10. However, we think that in Season 11, in the face of The Darkness, the brothers will remain united.

Sam and Dean came together in the Season 10 finale when the younger brother told the older that he is a good man no matter what he has done, and that he'll always find the light when he needs it. Hopefully, Dean realizes that and the two men work as a unit. We don't need them to be totally co-dependent, but we do need them to be on the same side.

4) There will be another meta episode.

Because there's always a meta episode.

5) This will not be the last season of Supernatural.

It's hard to imagine where the show goes from here or what threat could possibly top The Darkness, but the CW seems intent on having this show run forever.
