WWE Rumors: John Cena Time Off, 'WrestleMania 32' Main Event, Roman Reigns' Championship Push
WWE fans love to dissect all the rumors and spoilers that circulate the Internet, and the latest is a juicy one. We've got reports about John Cena taking time off, the main event of WrestleMania 32 and a championship push for Roman Reigns.
The 15-time world champion won his WWE United States Championship back from Seth Rollins at Night of Champions late last month. This is Cena's fifth reign with the belt, and it also means the return of the United States Championship Open Challenge on Monday Night Raw each week. But a new rumor indicates that Cena might drop the belt sooner rather than later.
Cageside Seats notes a Wrestling Observer report that states Cena could be out several months, though it's not clear exactly how much time he will miss. Furthermore, it seems that Cena asked for this time off during the summer, so hopefully WWE has had plenty of time to plan for his absence.
We can speculate all we want on the reason for this break. Perhaps it's to heal up some minor injuries. Maybe Cena is just burnt out and needs to catch his breath. Maybe he's got other projects in the works. Regardless, it comes at a time when WWE ratings are hovering at all-time lows, and Cena's absence likely won't help matters.
Next, Cageside Seats also reports that the possible main event of WrestleMania 32 is Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns, which would basically serve as a continuation of the story in the main event of WrestleMania 31. If you recall, Reigns looked to have Lesnar on the ropes (or at the very least, made him look somewhat mortal) when Seth Rollins rushed down to the ring and cashed in his Money in the Bank contract.
Furthermore, the plan appears to be to push Reigns heavily in the buildup to WrestleMania 32.
