5. The Anticipation Was Killing Me!
As we mentioned before, on Monday night (September 28), Fox aired a two-part trailer for their sci-fi procedural/drama. Part 1 aired during the second episode of Season 2's Gotham (at 8pm), while Part 2 aired during freshmen drama, Minority Report (at 9pm). Twitter had so much to say about the nostalgic return of the believer, Fox Mulder, and the skeptic, Dana Scully.
4. The Office Is A Mess!
What the hell happened after the series finale? Weren't agents John Doggett (Robert Patrick) and Monica Reyes (Annabeth Gish) left in charge of The X-Files program? Mulder returns back to the office, finding it completely empty and the ceiling covered with pencils. As if he's angry at himself or frustrated about something, Fox just splits part of his famous "I Want To Believe" poster with his foot.
3. Why so serious Scully?
We see Scully sitting beside by a hospital bed but we don't know who's lying there. The shot echoes Gillian Anderson's directorial debut, All Things. In the episode, Scully stumbled upon Dr. Daniel Waterston (Nicolas Surovy), the married man with whom she had an affair while at medical school. Dana wondered what her life would have been like if she stayed with him and practiced medicine, like her father wanted.
2. Feels Just Like Home!
Maybe it's because I saw M. Night Shyamalan's Wayward Pines, but the trailer makes me feel like this a Fox drama. It has the glossy look and fancy camerawork you would see on a staple Fox program. Times have changed and the series has been given a cool modern update. Not surprising because the show's production value grew and changed each season. Or maybe the two shows have the same director of photography?
1. Is That Cancer Man?
He's Back! Cigarette-Smoking Man is back! We just see his hand, holding the nearly burnt-out cigarette. When he says, "We have a small problem...," doesn't that line bring chills down your spine?
The X-Files returns with a special two-night event beginning Sunday, January 24, 2016, following the NFC Championship Game. The event continues Monday, January 25, 2016 (8pm).
