WWE 'Monday Night Raw' Results 10/5/15: Brock Lesnar Returns vs Undertaker at 'Hell in a Cell'
The October 5, 2015 episode of WWE's Monday Night Raw emanates live from the TD Garden in Boston and features the return of Brock Lesnar as he begins the war with Undertaker prior to their match at Hell in a Cell on Sunday, October 25. We've got the full results from the show, so let's get to it.
The show begins with The Beast Incarnate and his advocate Paul Heyman. The two men triumphantly march their way to the ring following Lesnar's victory over Big Show at the Live from MSG special on Saturday night. This is more typical brilliance from Heyman, who shows footage of Lesnar and Undertaker's two previous encounters at WrestleMania 30 and SummerSlam. He points out that Lesnar has invaded Undertaker's territory and conquered it at every opportunity.
As Heyman sings The Battle Hymn of the Beast, Big Show's music hits and he walks to the ring with a cocky smile on his face. He runs his mouth at Lesnar, says he was inches away from beating him, and offers his hand for a shake, but Lesnar just laughs and walks away. But Show continues to talk and says he hopes Undertaker beats him again, so Lesnar shuts him up with a suplex and an F5.
Backstage, Seth Rollins panics to Stephanie McMahon that his tag team partner for tonight has been taken out. He asks Steph to cancel the match, but she tells him to come up with something else.
Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Randy Orton defeat The Wyatt Family after Luke Harper takes an RKO and a spear while Ambrose occupies Braun Strowman in the timekeeper's area. After the match ends, Reigns tells Bray Wyatt that this ends inside Hell in a Cell.
Sheamus defeats Neville in a quick match with King Barrett on commentary. Prior to the match, Sheamus cuts a promo and insults Boston and its Irish roots. He says he should be the city's mascot and calls Neville a loser leprechaun. Neville gets fed up and kicks him, but it's all for naught when Barrett distracts him, which allows Sheamus to hit The Man That Gravity Forgot with a Brogue Kick.
Corporate Kane is in the ring for a promo and talks about this other seven-foot monster that has been chasing Seth Rollins. He mentions how Lesnar incapacitated Big Show and suggests that he replace the giant as Rollins' partner tonight. Rollins comes out and dismisses this idea. They go back and forth for a bit about turning Rollins into the best champion he can be until Stephanie McMahon comes out to put an end to this nonsense.
She books Rollins vs. The Demon Kane inside Hell in a Cell at the pay-per-view of the same name in three weeks and says if the Demon Kane loses, then Corporate Kane is fired as Director of Operations. As for tonight, she says Kane can team with Rollins if he wants.
Natalya defeats Paige with the Sharpshooter.
We see a video package about Ryback, who then cuts a promo to say that he is inching closer to getting his Intercontinental Championship back.
Kevin Owens squashes Sin Cara with a Pop-Up Powerbomb. After the bell, he goes for an Apron Powerbomb on Kalisto but Ryback runs out and saves him.
Backstage, Stephanie McMahon is on her phone when The New Day clap their way in saying "Steph-a-nie." She is not amused and informs them that they will defend their WWE Tag Team Championships once again against The Dudley Boyz at Hell in a Cell. She also says if she hears one note from Xavier Woods' trombone, then she will take them to a place that makes Suplex City look like Disney World!
We see a segment in which John Cena and Roman Reigns discuss Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Seth Rollins and Kane face The Dudley Boyz and during the match, Rollins handcuffs Kane to the ringpost. Seth accidentally tosses D-Von Dudley into Kane, which breaks the handcuffs. Medical personnel lead Kane to the back, which forces Rollins to fight two on one. The Dudleys overwhelm the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and go for the table, so Rollins recovers and smacks them with it to cause the disqualification.
As Rollins goes to leave, The Demon Kane emerges. Rollins charges at him but Kane quickly takes control and tosses him into the ring. Before he can do more damage, the Dudleys get revenge for SmackDown last week and deliver a 3D to Kane. They leave, and Rollins prepares to do the same until he realizes that Kane is down. The champ sets up the table and taunts Kane, but he recovers and grabs Rollins by the throat. Rollins wiggles out and goes to the top rope, but Kane catches him and chokeslams him through the table.
We see what happened earlier in the day when Team Bella and Team B.A.D. bumped into each other outside the arena.
Prior to their match, Nikki Bella takes some shots at The Boston Red Sox and says The New York Yankees will win the World Series this year. The two teams bicker for a bit until their match begins. Team B.A.D. defeats Team Bella when hometown girl Sasha Banks gets Alicia Fox to tap out to the Bank Statement.
Summer Rae invites Rusev to the ring and shows him a video package of how much he means to her. It's actually pretty funny. Rusev says when this started, he didn't like Summer Rae that much, but now he can't imagine caring for anyone more than her. She is thrilled and says she has something to ask him, then she gets down on one knee, opens a box with a ring inside, and proposes! After a pause, Rusev says yes! Summer Rae celebrates, but Rusev says he is not accepting just yet because he wants to win WWE gold first.
John Cena comes out, plays to his hometown crowd a bit, and then starts the United States Championship Open Challenge. Dolph Ziggler's music hits, but it takes him longer than usual to emerge. Instead, The New Day come out with an unconscious Ziggler and say they took Cena's advice to heart last week about getting serious, so Big E will take the challenge tonight.
Cena goes for the Attitude Adjustment, but The New Day help him avoid it. Referee Charles Robinson throws them out from ringside. Big E tries to hit Cena with the trombone, but he dodges and drops him with the AA for the pin. The New Day immediately attack Cena after the bell until a hobbled Ziggler rushes the ring to assist. As they fight off The New Day, Ziggler accidentally superkicks Cena. The Dudley Boyz then come out to clear out The New Day, but the WWE Tag Team Champions manage to overwhelm them and leave all four men laying in the ring. The New Day celebrates on the ramp as the show goes off the air.
