"ONE" More Try at a Michael Jackson Cirque Du Soleil Show, Featured in Vegas
The King of Pop's spirit will live on in Las Vegas through a new Cirque Du Soleil show entitled Michael Jackson ONE. Cirque CEO Daniel Lamarre announced Thursday that the "follow-up venture for Cirque & the Jackson estate, proceeded by 2011's Micheal Jackson The IMMORTAL World Tour, will premeire at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.
This new show, created for Las Vegas' eyes only, will be completely different from the IMMORTAL tour, director Jamie King promised the Las Vegas Son back in August. He explains that ONE will be more of an intimate theater show rather than an "arena tour production" with a completely different feel from the original MJ Cirque show.
Viwers of IMMORTAL had some pretty harsh critiques and were generally disappointed with the lackluster production. For many, it seemed more like "a dance concert" than the extravagent cirque show they were expecting.
Cirque lovers who are willing to give a Jackson show another try will be happy to know that the new production, ONE, will feature "a broad sampling of the late artist's music and plenty of high-flying Cirque du Soleil spectacle that will combine Cirque's signature elaborate acrobatics and Jackson's music" ENews stated. Hopefully these major improvements will appease the attendees this time around and it will gain admiration like the successful Beatles Cirque show: LOVE.
Vegas Seven reported that the preview performances for ONE will begin on May 23 at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino and the official opening night is slated for June 29. Chuck Bowling, the property's president and chief operating officer stated:
"We are in the midst of a major transformation at this resort, introducing a new set of experiences for our guests. Michael Jackson ONE is truly the crown jewel in that transformation."
Hopefully this second attempt at an MJ Cirque will make the "man in the mirror" proud, and ONE will be as spectacular as the late, great Michael Jackson.
