'Arrow' Season 4 SPOILERS: Will Felicity Smoak's Father Appear This Year?

The Season 4 premiere of Arrow is tonight, and if you're not feeling the hype now, then I can't help you. Luckily, we still have time for some spoilers, and the latest news talks about Felicity Smoak's father.

We had two visits from Felicity's (Emily Bett Rickards) mother, Donna Smoak (Charlotte Ross), in Season 3, but the mystery of her father's identity remains. Fans have wagered numerous guesses over the years, and one of the more recent theories is Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough). But still, we do not have any concrete answers.

Unfortunately, showrunner Wendy Mericle and executive producer Marc Guggenheim did not make the answer much clearer when he spoke to the Matt's Inside Line column at TVLine. He did, however, offer a welcome reveal about Felicity in Season 4.

"Like, whether we’ll learn any information about the elusive figure now that Donna Smoak’s visit has been extended? 'We’re hoping,' executive producer Wendy Mericle responds. Adds EP Marc Guggenheim: 'We’re always talking about it, but we have to find the right story and the right moment. We trust that it will come to us when it’s meant to come to us.' Maybe it’s a good thing the daddy issues haven’t come up yet, because funny Felicity is back 'with a vengeance' in Season 4, Guggenheim reports. '[Emily Bett Rickards is] on the top of her game. She’s hysterical. We’re definitely writing jokes for her, but she’s also finding humor in lines that weren’t intentionally humorous.'"

Many fans were displeased with Felicity's turn away from the quirky, funny woman she was in the first two seasons toward a darker, more emotional character in Season 3. But it looks like the joy she has found with Oliver will bring her back around to the character we all came to love in the early days.
