DWTS Season 16 Contestants Revealed: First 'Teaser' Announced before Official 'GMA' List, NFL Ravens Star Jacobey Jones
There has been much buzz for months about which celebrities will compete this season on ABC's hit show Dancing with the Stars. The official announcement will not be made until tomorrow (Tuesday) on Good Morning America tomorrow. However, ABC decided to tease us by revealing one of the confirmed contestants on a commercial that aired last night during the Oscars: NFL Raven & Superbowl winner Jacobey Jones.
The Baltimore Ravens wide reciever, known for his victory dance moves in the endzone, will be hanging up his cleats for now and lacing up his dancing shoes beginning in March.
Three NFL players on previous DWTS seasons who have already taken home the trophy include Emmitt Smith, Hines Ward and Donald Driver. Can Jacobey hold it down for the NFL this season? Tune into the Dancing with the Stars premeire on March 18th to find out.
For those who can't wait until tomorrow for the official announcement of the complete list of contenders, another star that is allegedly going to appear on the show is former American Idol season 5 contestant Kellie Pickler, according to TMZ. "Inside sources" reveal that Pickler will be the first ever former American Idol contestant" to dance on DWTS, as two of the biggest reality shows on television are about to come together.
Other possible but probable contenders from TMZ sources include Olympic gymnast gold-medalist Aly Raisman, country star Wynonna Judd, and current ABC "Bachelor" Sean Lowe.
Another competitor, confirmed by boxing columnist Steve Kim of MaxBoxing.com and reported by the Ventura County Star newspaper, is boxer Victor "Vicious" Ortiz.
Deena Nicole Cortese, the "Blast in a Glass" from Jersey Shore, has displayed her deep interest in taking her drunken street dancing to the DWTS stage via much Twitter campaigning, as she hopes to make this season's cut as well.
While the new competitors are anxious to start dancing with their "allstar" partners, some of the seasoned ballroomers will not be returning this year. Dancers who have not been asked back include Maksim Chmerkovskiy who has been part of the show since its second season, says Acess Hollywood. A Tweet from the dancer on Friday supports this:
"BAM! Someone landed in LA LA LAND! So many peeps to catch up with! So much exciting stuff coming up! #OutWithTheOld."
Chelsie Hightower, who has been part of the DWTS fam since 2009, apparently also "got the boot," according to Perez Hilton's sources.
A rep for the show tells TMZ, "We do not comment on casting rumors, but tune in to 'GMA' on Tuesday when we reveal the cast live!"
The announcement will be made at 7 a.m. Eastern February 26 on ABC's Good Morning America, which will broadcast live from Los Angeles. Tune in to see which twelve celebs will be joining Jacobey and putting on their dancing shoes this season.
