Cecil the Lion Hunter Walter Palmer: Kill Voted Legal in Zimbabwe
Well, good news for that dentist who killed Cecil the Lion over in Zimbabwe this past summer- the country has decided the hunt was legal and Walter Palmer is in the clear. Of course, despite the good news, he's still one of the most hated people in America.
(for good reason)
Per a report from TMZ, it has been decided that Palmer will not be charged. Zimbabwe officials in charge of investigating the dentist's case have claimed that he was perfectly in his right to hunt Cecil the Lion, further noting that his "papers were all in order and he had legal authority to conduct the hunt," according to the gossip site.
This ruling goes against what Zimbabwe officials originally said last month, as they first wanted to extradite the dentist to face charges. But being that he took the "proper steps," as TMZ says – proper steps to kill a lion, that is – Zimbabwe has ruled in his favor.
So, um, yay?
Palmer famously went back to work in Minnesota, where he lives, just last month, noting his reasoning for going back to be because he's a health professional. His staff and patients reportedly wanted him to come back. "That's why I'm back," he said.
Palmer has stated that he's unsure whether or not he'll go back to Zimbabwe to do more hunting. "Zimbabwe has been a wonderful country for me to hunt in ... and I have always followed the laws."
Given this new report from Zimbabwe, it appears that he actually has.
Still, no one likes him. Right?
