Frank Ocean 'Eyes Like Sky' Leaked: Unreleased Track from Grammy Winner's New Album Surfaces Online (LISTEN)
An unreleased track off of recent Grammy winner and R&B singer Frank Ocean's upcoming album was leaked by the Internet yesterday. Coming off the success of the "Best Urban Contemporary Album" of the year "Ocean Orange," all eyes are on Frank as he remains hard at work on his follow up album.
"Eyes Like Sky," was the first track leaked off of Ocean's new album that has yet to be titled or have a said release date. It isreportedly a "leftover" from his channel ORANGE studio sessions, according to an ABC article. "Driven by an acoustic guitar riff, it's more pop and less soul-filled than the tracks that ended up on the album."
Ocean, now newly thrust into the mainstream spotlight after his winning streak that includes two Grammys and one Brit Award in the month of February, has already completed "10 or 11" tracks, which he revealed during an interview on BBC radio last week.
"It's another cohesive thing, bordering on a concept record again," said Ocean. "At the end of Channel Orange, there's 'Golden Girl,' and it's this beach scene. And I kind of want it to extend that feel into the next record all together, kind of make it that theme."
Some of the lyrics in "Eyes Like Sky" where Ocean "paints a colorful portrait of a higher power looking over him," include:
"I said, 'I wish you could see the ocean.' He said 'I wish you could see hope.' I said, 'Have you ever seen the mountains?' He said, 'No but my faith can move those.' I said, 'I wish you could see the stars.' He told me I should see love," he closes the story of "Eyes Like Sky."
So far the feedback for Franks new track seems positive, according to the comments under the leaked track on Soundcloud. Listen to "Eye's Like Sky" for yourself here:
