LeBron James, Insane Dunk [VIDEOS]: The 'King' Could Have Won Dunk Contest with Warm Up Display
Though LeBron James has admitted that he will never enter the Slam Dunk Contest, it looks like he can still pull off dunks worthy of the highest prize. In last night's warm-ups before he took the court with his Miami Heat teammates against the Clevland Cavaliers, "King James" messed around with some shots, eventually pulling off one of the most ridiculous dunks in NBA history. He manages to jump from right past the free-throw line, put the ball between his legs, switch hands, throw it off of the back board, run up, and slam it home. LeBron even impressed himself.
Would it be weird to ask the current Slam Dunk champion, Terrence Ross, to just hand the title over to LeBron? It seems like it might be awkward, but WOW. This is definitely one of the clear reasons why LeBron is nicknamed the "King." He says he does not enter the dunk competitions due to his age and the amount of injuries he usually has around All-Star Weekend. Luckily he tries out crazy slam dunks during season game warm-ups so that will have to suffice for now.
But wait, there is so much more. As soon as the game starts, James takes the opening moments to completely destroy the Cavaliers' defense with a court-shaking slam for the first points of the match. Oh and then he gets an alley-oop dunk in. Not to mention another solo dunk added to the list of incredible athleticism all within the first 10 minutes of the game. Videos:
The Miami Heat went on to be the Cleveland Cavaliers 109 to 105.
Mstarz recently covered the heated debate of Kobe Bryant versus LeBron James and even Michael Jordan in terms of talent and prowess. The article focused on Jordan saying that Bryant was better because of the amount of championships he won. Here is an excerpt:
There are plenty of ways to look at the "Bryant vs James"/"James vs Bryant" discussion, but Jordan went the easy route and just counted their rings. You could look at the argument from the point of view of who would win a one-on-one game or who was better at a certain point in their respective careers, for instance, but the approach that Jordan took is still a valid enough evaluation.
Now take into consideration the mind-blowing spectacle that James put on last night, during a close game. He is able to show off while still playing in a very tough match. That is something to take into consideration in terms of this debate.
