5 Thoughts On Ben McKenzie & Robin Lord Taylor 'Gotham' Season 2 Episode 1-5 On Fox!
Season 2 of the Batman prequel series, Gotham, continues on Fox. In Episode 1- 5, this is the perfect opportunity to check out how detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) dealt with the Rise of the Villains.
As we previously mentioned, Gotham has just lost Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett-Smith) due to a violent mob war. Now Theo Galavan (James Frain), will unleash terror across Gotham City. With Tigress (Jessica Lucas) by his side, Galavan forms a band of criminals called the Maniax, setting up the rise of the villains. The so-called Maniax happen to be a murderers' row of escaped Arkham Asylum inmates, led by the Joker-esque psychotic Jerome (Cameron Monaghan).
Check out our 5 thoughts on the first 5 episodes of Gotham Season 2 here:
5) Barbara Is Sexy And Crazy
It definitely took awhile for Erin Richards to find her place as Barbara Kean in the freshmen season. But once she found her footing in Damned If You Do, Richards took charge in her role, unleashing Barbara's wild side as she was sent to Arkham Asylum. One moment, she's incredibly sweet with Jim on the phone. Then she turns into a crazy b*tch from hell when she leaves a message for Leslie Thompkins (Morena Bacarrin), threatening to kill her.
4) Poor Commissioner Sarah Essen
After getting her promotion, Sarah Essen (Zabryna Guevara) thought she was going to change Gotham. At the end of Knock, Knock, Jerome and the Maniax stormed into the precinct, killing every police office. Though she knew her death was inevitable, Sarah stayed strong and tough as she a face-to-face with Jerome.
3) So Was He The Joker?
From his red hair to that laugh of his, everything was hinting at Jerome becoming the iconic prince of crime. Except Jerome wasn't quick enough to realize that Theo was going to betray him, stabbing him in the throat. But with Jerome's laughter on a loop, he could have influenced the real Joker at the end of The Last Laugh.
2) Kringle and Nygma Dating!?!
Love was in the air in Strike Force. While Nathaniel Barnes (Michael Chiklis) was building his team against Penguin, Edward Nygma (Corey Michael Smith) finally asked out Ms. Kringle. Didn't it warm your heart when she accepted that he talks to himself? Plus, Theo pimped out his ward, Silver St. Cloud (Natalie Alyn Lind), and handed her over to Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz).
1) Female Firefly
In Scarification, the Fox drama did something unique to the DC Universe lore by switching genders. Though the character is male in the comics, Bridget Pike (Michelle Veintimilla) has become the super villain known as Firefly. Now that we've seen the damage Firefly can do with her arsonist suit, I can't wait to see what happens next.
