Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) notices Barry is flirting with his partner. At the lab, Martin needs a special cane to walk around. Caitlin vouches for Henry Hewitt (Demore Barnes), though Barry thinks Jax is a better candidate. While the group decides to meet both potentials, Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) stalks the hallways.
Jax and Martin meet with Jax, who lost his dreams due to the accelerator explosion. Barry gives him his number and asks him to think about it. Joe and Iris meet with Francine (Vanessa Williams) at the coffee shop. Iris is unwilling to forgive his mother and asks her to stay gone.
Caitlin brings in Henry, who is enamored with Martin's transmutations. Caitlin thinks the merge will work but Barry has doubts. Martin and Henry attempt to merge but nothing happens. With his ego burned, Henry walks out just as his powers start to appear.
Tina McGee (Amanda Pays) is summoned to Applied Sciences as Harrison steals something from her lab. Patty and Joe then show up at the robbery. Tina reveals Harrison Wells is different and walking again. Joe wants Patty to lie about Wells to Barry and keep it a secret.
At the precinct, Francine tells Joe that she's dying and has the end of the year to live. Jax finally shows up at the lab and laughs at the news. Jax turns his back at being a superhero and walks away. Caitlin still believes Henry is the right choice and runs to get him back.
Patty has an awkward conversation with Barry. Joe gives Barry advice about Patty, but in the end, she's not Iris. Hewitt snaps at his boss and unleashes his superpowers. Cisco has to help Martin stun to bed. Caitlin realizes she needs to open too try something new.
Listening to Joe, Iris wonders if Francine is telling the truth. Caitlin tells Jax about Ronnie and how he died as a hero. Hewitt shows up and strikes at Jax. After knocking out Hewitt, Jax and Caitlin make a run for it.
Arriving at the lab, Jax and Martin merge together and form into Firestorm. During Hewitt's attack, The Flash shows up at the football field to rescue the players. The Flash and Firestorm exhaust Hewitt's powers before he's knocked out.
Iris meets with Francine, discovering the truth; she may have a brother. She still refuses to forgive her. Martin and Jax are heading to Pittsburgh together. Before he leaves and flies into the air as Firestorm, Martin reminds Cisco that his powers is a gift, not a curse.
Before he meets with Patty, the Flash is suddenly attacked by King Shark. All of a sudden, King Shark is shot in the back by a mysterious figure.
The Flash discovers he was rescued by Earth-2's Harrison Wells.
