'Manhattan' Season 2 Episode 3 Recap: Rachel Brosnahan, Ashley Zukerman's "The Threshold"
WGN America continues with Season 2 of Manhattan. In Episode 3, will Abby Isaacs (Rachel Brosnahan) and Charlie Isaacs (Ashley Zukerman) uncover Frank Winter (John Benjamin Hickey)'s whereabouts in The Threshold?
In the flashback, Frank finds his wife, Liza Winter (Olivia Williams), in the mental institution. Liza believes she tried to kill herself but Frank disagrees, thinking it was all an accident. Because she cannot wear the wedding ring, Frank ties a knot on her finger, reminding Liza that he still loves her.
Glen notices Frank is upset as he pitches his idea about the atomic bomb. Frank then tells Glen Babbit (Daniel Stern) that they really need help. There is only one person that comes to Glen's mind and it happens to be Albert Einstein.
Back in the present, Louis 'Fritz' Fedowitz (Michael Chernus) is babbling about a trip to Jupiter when a co-worker accidentally electrocutes himself. Frightened by the notion of death, Fritz immediately asks his true love to marry him. With Jim Meeks (Christopher Denham) as his best man, Fritz gets even better news; he has been accepted into Charlie's project.
At her work station, Abby listens in on Oppenheimer's phone conversation. She discovers Oppenheimer is actually having an affair. Charlie doesn't want to hear any more secrets and warns Abby that curiosity killed the cat. Abby then decides to have Oppenheimer and his wife Kitty (Neve Campbell) over for dinner.
During Fritz's bachelor party, Meeks ends up having a fling with Nora (Mamie Gummer). Meeks discovers that he has been seduced by a spy. Nora doesn't know there was a murder involved, and her life is in danger if Meeks doesn't get back on Charlie's project.
While Helen Prins (Katja Herbers) makes a fool out of herself to Charlie and Oppenheimer, Woodrow Lorentzen (Griffin Dunne) tries to find Frank's whereabouts from Col. Emmett Darrow (William Petersen). After bribing Woodrow, Darrow goes after Liza, threatening her daughter's life, if she doesn't comply. The daughter's boyfriend ends up sneaking Liza out of the base afterwards.
Kitty and Rachel have some alone time together. At this point, Abby reveals to Kitty that her husband is having an affair. Kitty blows Abby off; saying that she doesn't need marital advice from a lesbian. Abby tries to persuade Charlie that he should be taking over Oppenheimer's job.
As Helen gets a letter from Oppenheimer, Meeks convinces Fritz to take the job. Meeks also persuades Fritz to put a good word in and get him onto the project. Meeks is manipulating his own friend on his wedding day.
In the flashback, Liza remembers how her husband fought to get her out of the men institution. With a new job on the way, Liza all of a sudden has hope. Liza explains to Glen Babbit that she has find him, just like Frank did when she was lost.
Because Glen has no more strings left to pull, the two end up going to Albert Einstein for help.
