McDonald's Kicks Out Korean Kids for Throwing 'Potato Parties': South Korean Children Buy $250 Worth of French Fries
McDonald's employees kicked out a group of Korean kids who were throwing a $250 "potato party." The Korean kids bought $250 worth of French fries and employees were apparently none to pleased.
For those of you who don't know, potato parties started in Japan when French fries went on sale. McDonald's in Japan reduced the cost of large sized French fries to $1.63, causing kids to buy massive amounts of French fries and throwing parties where they spread out the fries across the table.
This resulted in some messy situations. For any of you who have kids, you know that they don't always clean up after themselves, especially when eating. This caused delays at Japanese McDonald's and enraged employees. Apparently the trend hit McDonald's in South Korea, and as Gawker reports, kids in a South Korean McDonald's shelled out $250 for cheap French fries. The result was this picture.
In response to seeing a bunch of kids eating loads of French fries, according to RocketNews 24, one McDonald's employee told the kids to stop causing trouble and to leave. They reportedly even called the kids "brats."
It's hard to say who is right and who is wrong here. If the kids were throwing the fries around I could see how that would be disruptive. However, if they are just buying the fries, sitting down and eating them I don't know if McDonald's has a reason to be so upset.
The Internet has taken the employees side. There reportedly have been many people upset about the kids actions and they have come to the defense of the angry McDonald's employees. I could see how if you're a McDonald's customer when one of these potato parties is taking place, it could get rather annoying if you have to wait a long time for your order.
What do Mstarz readers think? Are the kids in the wrong for buying massive amounts of French fries and taking advantage of the sale, or do you think they are being obnoxious and should stop?
