"Thrift Shop" rappers Macklemore abd Ryan Lewis have thrown in their support for gay athletes and musicians in the 'You Can Play' gay awareness campaign video.

In the video, the rapper whose debut album features a pro-gay song called "Same Love" speaks out on behalf of the group that rallies against homophobia in sports and music.

"You know someone who's gay: athletes, musicians - people in your life. They just haven't told you yet," Macklemore (real name, Ben Haggerty) said.

He adds that "anti-gay language has no place in sports, or music. If you can play, you can play."

During the clip, Macklemore urges young athletes struggling with their sexuality to not "let being gay hold you back."

On the flip side he says,"f you're straight don't hold others back."
