Bill Maher’s ‘CBS Sunday Morning’ Profile Hits New York Mets, Wealth & “Dumba$$ Celebrities”

Real Time host Bill Maher was profiled on this past weekend's CBS Sunday Morning. During the interview portion, the New York Mets minority owner discussed his illustrious career and noted exactly why he is able to keep his riches among so many struggling celebs and normal-folk today: it appears he doesn't have any "stupid hobbies" like those other "dumbass celebrities."

As he unapologetically puts it, of course.

The topic of Maher's wealth came about during a discussion regarding the $1 million donation he gave to President Barack Obama's campaign for re-election a while back. Also, the fact that Maher is a part owner of the aforementioned Mets, who recently came under defeat during the World Series.

Yet despite the loss, it's a rather solid investment to Maher, who claims, "As far as investments go, they're not making anymore baseball teams in New York City."

And in terms of his large investment to President Obama, the comedian admits, "I don't have stupid hobbies like other dumbass celebrities. I don't have a hundred cars; I don't collect art or go to hookers or do cocaine..." Because of that, his money merely "piled up" after a while. Which worked in his favorite because he was eventually able to give a large portion to President Obama's campaign.

Maher's career in showbiz started in stand up on the east coast. Admittedly, he began in variety shows ripping off the likes of Johnny Carson, as he noted during this past Friday's episode of Real Time while interviewing fellow comic David Spade. He eventually was given Politically Incorrect, which aired on Comedy Central and then moved over to ABC. Following some, what many called, controversial statements regarding the attacks on 9/11, the show was canceled.

But like most things in Maher's life, it seems the firing worked out just fine because he landed on HBO and appears to have never been happier.
