Harlem Shake Record: WWE Planning World's Largest Viral Dance at Wrestling's Biggest Event 'WrestleMania 29'?
Is WWE going to attempt to do the world's largest Harlem Shake at "WrestleMania 29" in East Rutherford, NJ? Well according to the F4W Newsletter, Bryan Alvarez says the sports entertainment company is considering giving it a try.
The WWE already has produced one Harlem Shake video, which you can watch below. However, the company's first attempt at the latest craze was a bit smaller than what they could have in store for fans in April. In fact, even the most crowded Harlem Shake videos usually top out at around 30 to 40 people.
There was a Harlem Shake video by the band "Matt and Kim," where they employed the use of the entire audience in Troy, NY at the RPI Field House.
This may be the most impressive large gathering Harlem Shake so far, but if the WWE were able to pull off a Harlem Shake at the company's largest event of the year, it would dwarf what "Matt and Kim" put together. "WrestleMania 29" takes place April 7 at MetLife stadium and there will be thousands of fans in attendance. The lowest "WrestleMania" attendance to date was around 50,000, while "WrestleMania 3" had over 90,000 fans. Yes, that would be a very large Harlem Shake.
So what are the chances of the WWE pulling this off? That is anyone's guess. WWE has a history of trying to gain extra media attention at "WrestleMania" by employing celebrities to get involved in the action. Snookie, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Donald Trump to name just a few. This year, maybe they will try a different approach.
There were rumors WWE was going to try to break the Guinness Book of World Records for most Lucha masks worn in one building during a Rey Mysterio vs. Sin Cara match. However, those plans seem to be scrapped. If it were up to me, I would say the Harlem Shake idea has a lot more potential of gaining attention from the media. However, by the time April 7 rolls around, will the Harlem Shake even still be relevant?
