'Supernatural' Season 11 SPOILERS: Sam Winchester's Visions, Dangerous Alliances Formed
Thus far on Season 11 of Supernatural, Sam and Dean Winchester (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) have been united in their efforts instead of hiding and keeping secrets from each other. But it looks like that is going to change with regards to Sam's visions and the dangerous alliances that will be formed because of it.
In the Season 11 premiere, Sam became infected by the Darkness and seemed to be on his way to a swift death after he had seen those infected before him drop dead within the span of a few hours. While Dean drove out of town to deliver a baby to safety, Sam stayed behind but neglected to tell his brother about the infection.
In the next episode, Sam desperately prayed to God for help but seemingly received no answer. A short time later, he saw a vision of himself being burned or tortured in some way, and he then was able to deduce that the cure for the infection was a combination of fire and holy oil.
Two episodes later in the critically acclaimed "Baby," Sam had another vision, this time of his father John Winchester (guest star Matt Cohen) as a young man. John informed him that "God helps those who help themselves" and warned him that the Darkness was coming and only the Winchesters could stop it. Sam asked who he really was, but the vision ended.
So when will we learn more about the true meaning of these visions? The "Ask Ausiello" column at TVLine has some news.
"Question: I am dying to find out more about Sam's visions this season on Supernatural. What can you tell us about that? - Elena M.
Ausiello: Sam will be 'exploring' his visions and 'trying to figure out who's talking to him and what they mean,' star Jensen Ackles previews. 'So he takes it upon himself to go there without Dean, and it leaves me in the dust. Then, of course, Dean has to follow, [which leads to] some interesting alliances.'"
We'd heard coming into the season that the Winchesters would need to form some unique alliances in order to combat the Darkness, and it seems like those alliances may form in part because of Sam's visions and the effect they have on his brother.
