Batman Returning? Christian Bale May Play Batman in 'Justice League' Film, 'Dark Knight Rises' Director Christopher Nolan Reportedly On Board

Over the summer it seemed like "Dark Knight Rises" director Christopher Nolan and Batman himself, Christian Bale were finished with the Batman movies. Despite Warner Bros. planning on coming out with a "Justice League" movie, Bale and Nolan didn't seem to be a part of any future appearances by Batman. Now, there are reports to the contrary.

According to Umberto "El Mayimbe" Gonzalez from the Latino Review, Nolan has not only taken over the "Justice League" movie, but all DC Comics movies. Warner Bros. has apparently handed over the keys to every major superhero's car and given them to Nolan. Gonzalez goes on to say that Nolan could be planning on placing Bale back in the role of Batman for the "Justice League" movie.

"Christopher Nolan has completely taken over the DCU at Warner Bros," Gonzalez writes. "Anything having to do with these super heroes, goes through him now."

Warner Bros. also reportedly could be making "Man of Steel" director Zac Snyder the director of the "Justice League" blockbuster. So let's recap. According to the Latino Review we could be seeing Christopher Nolan producing, Zac Snyder directing, Christian Bale as Batman, and Henry Cavill as Superman in the 2015 release of "Justice League." Cavill is playing Superman in "Man of Steel" coming out June 14.

For comic book fans and movie fans this is potentially huge news. "Justice League" is a potential blockbuster movie that will likely face off against Marvel's "The Avengers 2" and "Star Wars: Episode VII."

Nolan's return is the key in all this. When Nolan previously said he wasn't returning to do anything more with the Batman character, it was assumed Bale also wouldn't be returning. Back in July Nolan told the Associated Press, "We're finished with all we're doing with Batman. This is the end of our take on this character." Also, Bale made it clear that he wouldn't play Batman without Nolan involved. Now that Nolan is reportedly involved, it looks like fans may get to see Bale as Batman for a fourth movie.
