New Facebook Lawsuit: Investor Suing Social Network and Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook News Feed Changes 2013

If you have seen "The Social Network" you know that lawsuits are nothing new for Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg. Ever since being sued by the Winklevoss twins after they claimed Zuckerberg stole their idea for Facebook, the social networking site has become the target of numerous lawsuits. The latest one is coming from an unhappy investor who claims Facebook knew about the company's weak revenue trends prior to its IPO.

Investor Gaye Jones, according to Reuters, is taking issue with the fact that Facebook benefited greatly from the IPO, which they knew was overpriced.

"The defendants were unjustly enriched because they realized enormous profits and financial benefits from the IPO, despite knowing that reduced revenue and earnings forecasts for the company had not been publicly disclosed to investors," the complaint reads.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Jones wants Zuckerberg and Facebook to pay up for being dishonest to its investors. However, Jones may have some trouble winning this latest lawsuit. A judge has already dismissed four cases similar to the one Jones is filing. In those instances the judge claimed the shareholders didn't own stock prior to the IPO, so the company didn't have to pay up. Jones may have a case though, since he has owned stock since Feb. 2012.

Jones is just the latest in a long line of lawsuits against Facebook after they went public. According to Reuters, over 50 investors have filed complaints since the IPO was released. When Facebook went public, their stock price was $38, but the stock price soon dropped to as low as $25. The stock closed Monday at $27.72 on Nasdaq.

This is another misstep for Zuckerberg and Facebook who plan on rolling out a new look for its news feed March 7. As was reported on Mstarz, the social media company usually doesn't make it a point to alert the media of changes being made to the site unless they are making big changes.

Most likely this latest lawsuit will prove to be another bump in the road for Zuckerberg, who up until this point, has been able to overcome previous lawsuits against him.
