EA Sports' 'UFC 2' Cover Keeps Ronda Rousey Features, Game Modes For Release Date!
Nothing could have prepared Rhonda Rousey as she was knocked out by competitor Holly Holm. EA Sports will be keeping the Rhonda Rousey cover on UFC 2, along with the game modes and upcoming features, for the official release date.
IGN previously reported, the Expendables 3 action star was announced as the global cover athlete for the Ultimate Fighting Championship game. Rousey would have appeared on both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions. It is a sigh of relief for fans who were expecting the former champion to be replaced has one of the cover athletes for its upcoming videogame.
According to ESPN, EA spokesperson Brad Hilderbrand laid the rumors to rest and confirmed the company will keep Rousey on the cover. Readers will have to wait for an as-of-yet unnamed male athlete to be announced as well. Rousey's loss, while it was undoubtedly unexpected, still leaves her with a 12-win, 1-loss record.
On his official Twitter account, EA Sports president Peter Moore tweets, "All of us @EA understand, celebrate and embrace the unpredictability of sports. That's why as fans we all watch and play...#itsinthegame"
EA will unload a ton of new features in the upcoming UFC videogame sequel. The new features include fighter-specific animations, skill-building technique challenges, more realistic physics-driven reactions, and "the deepest, most powerful fighter creation tools yet."
The Entourage guest star was hospitalized following her fight in Australia but posted on social media, through her Instagram account, that she would be taking some time off. UFC president Dana White mentioned it's most likely there will be a rematch between Holm and Rousey.
White states, "We don't make fights the night of the fight, but the rematch makes a lot of sense. The rematch is what the people want to see."
EA Sports' UFC 2 is scheduled for release on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for sometime in 2016 spring.
