'Game of Thrones' Season 6 SPOILERS: Poster Confirms Kit Harington's Jon Snow is Alive?
Season 6 of HBO's Game of Thrones is still months and months away, but fans have been debating the fate of Kit Harington's Jon Snow since the Season 5 finale. After weeks of discussion, a new poster has seemingly provided an answer that the character is alive.
The official Game of Thrones Twitter posted the photo, which shows a close-up of Jon Snow looking down at the ground with blood on his face. The lone word of text on the poster simply reads "APRIL."
Unless HBO is using a dead character to promote its upcoming season, this is practically confirmation that Jon Snow is alive. The debate has been raging about the character's status since the Season 5 finale ended on a shot of what appeared to be his dead body.
Some fans pointed out that Snow's eyes appear to open and flash purple, which some took to mean he had become a White Walker. Others noted that Melisandre had conveniently returned to Castle Black just before Jon died and would be able to resurrect him. Some, however, simply accepted that Jon Snow had died.
But in the aftermath of the episode, things got weird. Those at the show, including Kit Harington himself, would not officially say with 100% certainty that Jon Snow was gone for good, which gave fans reason to hope.
Several months ago, Harington gave an interview to Belgian magazine Humo, and an enterprising individual on Reddit translated this important portion of the interview:
"I often felt frustrated as well. I had to pass on amazing parts because I was attached to Game of Thrones. So the show is like a double-edged sword to me: I owe a lot to it, but at the same time it has almost completely drained me. Oh well, I try not to think about it too much. The important thing is that I now know exactly how long I am still under contract, and in the meantime –
How many more seasons would that be?
Nice try (laughs). I can't talk about that. Let's just say that Game of Thrones will remain a part of my life for a while, I'll probably be in my thirties when it's over. One thing's for sure: the day I'm no longer on Thrones is the day I'll bury myself in movie projects (laughs)."
