The Walking Dead Preview: Executive Producer Robert Kirkman Reveals Details about Season 3 End, "Afraid there may be Casualty" before Season Finale
Entertainment Weekly recently spoke with "The Walking Dead" Executive Producer Robert Kirkman and he gave some juicy tidbits of what viewers could expect as season 3 comes to an end. The producer said that the people behind the AMC juggernaut have some "really cool stuff planned for the finale" and that viewers should expect "a resolution to the [season's] storyline." Read on to see what he said about several key Walkind Dead storylines and learn if any of the cast won't make it out of the season alive.
On Rick's Oh-So-Fragile Sanity
"He has started to get a handle on it to a certain extent and a big thing that helped him with that was his interaction with Morgan in this last episode," Kirkman told EW.
Looks like Rick is finally getting his hallucinations under control, which is good because a showdown with the Governor seems imminent. Kirkman did not rule out the hallucinations returning saying, "Now, he could have a relapse, but I think right now he is getting a handle on what is going on within him."
On The Relationship between the Dixon Brothers, Daryl and Merle
Kirkman claims that Daryl is hoping that being with the group will be as beneficial for Merle as it was for Daryl.
"That's something that Daryl hopes will happen. He does see that being with these people and being a part of this group has helped make him a better person," Kirkman said. "He still loves his brother and sees the value in having his brother around, but he's hoping Merle can come around the same way that he did and clam down a bit and be a little bit more of a reasonable person."
Kirkman added that this would be a major conflict for the rest of the season.
On Michonne's Role in the Group
Kirkman says that Michonne's connection with Carl last week was "by design" and said that Michonne is likely to become a "contributing member" of the core group.
On Morgan's Sudden Reappearance and Disappearance
"We definitely didn't kill him, so he's still alive and still out there. We checked in on him. Whether or not that's the end of Morgan's story, or we check on him again, or he shows up later at some point in a surprising fashion remains to be seen. By he's definitely still out there so the possibilities are wide open," said Kirkman.
And, of course, the big question: Is anyone going to die before the season ends?
Kirkman danced around the answer to this question a bit, but seemed to confirm that someone was going down.
"I'm afraid there may be a casualty or more still to be experienced by the end of this season," said Kirkman.
However, he backed up his answer with a well-timed "We'll see."
