According to a new report by the New York Post, two time Oscar winning filmmaker Quentin Tarantino lied about having spent time in jail. The news comes hot on the heels of the Pulp Fiction creator's controversial involvement in an anti police violence rally at New York's Washington Square Park last month. "When I see murders, I do not stand by, I have to call a murder a murder, and I have to call a murderer a murderer," claimed the Kill Bill director as he spoke just four days after NYPD officer Randolph Holder was killed by gunfire.

To prove his understanding of police brutality and perhaps establish solidarity with protestors, the 52-year-old Tarantino stated that while employed as a video store clerk in Los Angeles he was incarcerated.

His most recent claim was on HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher  when he asserted, "Back when I was in my 20s and broke, I was a little scared of the cops, all right and oftentimes, I had warrants out on me for traffic stuff that I never took care of and everything . . . I'd get stopped, and I'd have to do eight days in county jail." He further added "I couldn't pay my traffic tickets because I earned only $10,000 a year."

However, Captain Christopher Reed of the LA County Sheriff's Department disputes the story claiming to have no record of the supposed incident in his system. Apparently the Django Unchained screenwriter's only conviction was in 2000 when he paid a fine to avoid jail time for driving without a license and failing to appear in court.

Tarantino's latest film The Hateful Eight, which will no doubt contain some sort of gun violence, will be released in theaters this January.
