'Sisters' Movie Lead Amy Poehler to Receive Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
Star magazine reports that Parks and Rec and Sisters star Amy Poehler will receive the 2566th star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. The ceremony for the 44-year-old actress, writer and producer will take place December 3rd in front of the Hollywood Wax Museum.
"We are thrilled to add Amy Poehler to our Walk of Fame." claims Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez. "She has kept us in stitches for so many years with her career as one of Hollywood's top comedic actresses. Fans should be ready for a ceremony full of laughter."
Poehler's career began as one of the founding members of New York's famed Upright Citizens Brigade. The exposure of the improv group landed her a gig on Saturday Night Live. Her eight-year stint on the show featured her as various characters including Hillary Clinton as well as a Weekend Update anchor. It was there people first saw her with fellow SNL alum Tina Fey, an association that would later include three Golden Globe hosting gigs, the film Baby Mama and the upcoming film Sisters.
Poehler's most famous role would be Leslie Knope on the NBC sitcom Parks & Recreation, a character that in seven seasons would earn her six Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series as well a Golden Globe Award in 2014 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Comedy Series, an American Comedy Award in 2014 for Best Actress in a Television Comedy and a Gracie Award in 2013.
Former Parks & Recreation co-star Rashida Jones and the show's creator Mike Schur are expected to attend Poehler's Walk of Fame induction ceremony which will be hosted by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
The twelve-time Emmy nominee also has her own New York based production company which produces Comedy Central's Broad City, Hulu's Difficult People and the web series Ask Amy. In addition, Poehler's bestselling memoir titled Yes Please remained on the New York Times Best Seller list for 23 weeks.
