Beach House - "Wishes" [MUSIC VIDEO]: Eric Wareheim (of 'Tim and Eric') Directs, Ray Wise ('Twin Peaks') Stars!
Beach House released their latest album, Bloom, about a year ago, but that does not mean that they intend to stop treating us to dreamy, surreal music ventures. Just yesterday they shared their latest music video for the single "Wishes," which is directed by innovative funnyman Eric Wareheim of the comedy duo "Tim and Eric." To say that Wareheim's sense of humor and general process of thought is "weird" is a pretty big understatement. Luckily such a background mixes well with Beach House's esoteric sound. Plus he managed to get Ray Wise (most famous as the eccentric father from the cult classic "Twin Peaks" series) to sign on as the subject of the video and, well, it is just amazing.
Described as a "very, very strange half-time event during a football game," the music video for "Wishes" is a good way to sum up all involved with it. Eric Wareheim is weird and has made a career out of it. Ray Wise is a legend already because of his talent and the kind of work he takes. Also he is pretty unique looking. Then comes Beach House. They are easily one of the most innovative bands in the music world today. The duo is made up of guitarist and pedal bass player Alex Scally and singer/keyboardist Victoria Legrand. Scally's guitar work sets the band apart from most other indie acts and Legrand's voice makes them stand out. Honestly, Bloom was one of the best albums released last year.
Here is what director Eric Warheim has stated about the music video for "Wishes" off of Beach House's Bloom:
"Beach House, Ray Wise, fireworks, and horses. How can I go wrong? This is the first project that I've ever collaborated creatively with the band. Victoria's imagery inspired me to create this special half time show. It also helps that Beach House is literally on my top 5 list of bands, ever."
Enjoy!
