Beyonce Partners With Top Shop to Launch Athleisure Clothing Line
Grammy award-winning pop star, Beyonce Knowles, has partnered up with Topshop boss, Sir Phillip Green, to create an athleisure clothing line that will launch in 25 countries this spring. Parkwood Topshop Athletic, Ltd will produce shoes, clothing and accessories that Huffington Posts says, "You can rock from the gym and the dance studio to the street and the dance floor." Tights, yoga and all things zen and comfort are in and celebrities like Kanye West have already tapped into that market, launching his own sneaker, tights and hoodie line in neutral colors.
The announcement was first made last year, when plans were just getting underway. Topshop is interested in tapping into the global marketability of the singer and the possibility of generating billions of revenue for them both. The performer works out on stage at every concert that she headlines, so this category of fashion is familiar to her. When Green was asked if he has actually seen the star workout, he replied no and told WWD, "She's a great dancer, and one of the most hard-working and talented people in the world, who spends many hours of her life dancing, rehearsing and training. This is a unique opportunity to develop this category."
The "Who Run The World" singer is a fan of Topshop and through a statement on the fashion company's website said, "I have always loved Topshop for their fashion credentials and forward thinking." "Working with its development team to create and produce a technical and fashion-led collection is exciting and I'm looking forward to participating in all aspects of this partnership," she continued. The line was initially due out this fall, but was pushed back so that all of the technical kinkscould be ironed out.
Although we've seen Mrs. Carter in high-end brands, Vogue has recently highlighted 14 looks of Bey in the retail giants affordable fashion line.
