Apple Eliminating iPhone Headphone Jack in New Model? 3 Thoughts After Hearing the Rumor

There's a rumor swirling around the nerd-o-sphere that Apple may get rid of the headphone jack in their next model of the oh-so-popular iPhone. Now, while there have been several rumors of the past surrounding the company, it's being reported that this one might actually be true.

Which, in our opinion, is kind of a bummer.

Gizmodo reports that the reason this rumor is a bit more believable than those of the past is due to the source. The publication notes, "A reliable Apple-obsessed Japanese site Macotakara, claims insider sources confirm Apple will be ditching the 3.5mm port to shave off one millimeter of the iPhone."

In other words, NOOOOOOO!!!! – because now you'll just have to probably spend more money on some wireless headphones or something of similar ilk ... which will probably happily be sold to you by Apple.

The rumor, true or not, has caused us to have several terrifyingly emotional thoughts. Here are just three of them.

1. WTF?! Seriously?!?
As much of an Apple supporter as you may be, the idea of the company creating a monopoly of sorts, in which the society will only function on Apple-related products, is a huge downer, and quite scary. Think of it this way: Apple used to be that cool friend who introduced you to all those hip gadgets and freed your mind to allow you to think for yourself. Now, after years of hanging around this dude, you realize that he's actually a cult leader trying to get you to think the exact same way he does, and thus become a part of his cult.

Okay, maybe that's a bit much, but you get the idea.

2. I'm Going with Samsung
The only reason this wouldn't happen is because we may or may not have an Apple computer and truly dig being able to sync the two. Having said that, Samsung is doing some pretty amazing things with their phones – even the ones that equate to the size of olden-day payphones – so perhaps the switch would be worth it.

Hell, we bet their headphone jack will always be there for us!

3. People Working for Apple Must Not Understand Everyday People
A note to Apple employees: Not everyone can afford to purchase your products. Yes, you make amazing phones and computers, but we're all still trying to pay the darn things off. So perhaps you should just be happy with the fact that we decided to go into debt to get your $3,000 laptop and stop doing ridiculous things like getting rid of the headphone jack.

Now, again, this is just a rumor, but the very thought of it is terrifying, as you can see.

Of course, if you're totally cool with finding yourself the victim of Apple's undoubted attempt to create of cult of blue-lit chins in dark spaces, then by all means go ahead and buy yourself some (Apple) wireless headphones and ready yourself for a life looking like this...
