'Wild N Out's' Nick Cannon, 'AGT' Host Named Chief Creative Officer at Radioshack
Electronic chain RadioShack named Wild N Out star Nick Cannon as its Chief Creative Officer on Wednesday, in a move to attract Millennials to the struggling company. The executive role for the actor and comedian is a familiar one, since Cannon has been known to pitch big corporations, like Nickelodeon and ask for a decision-making position. And in some cases, ownership or a share of the pie; which he actually gets.
Earlier this year, RadioShack filed for bankruptcy protection, sold off at least half of the stores and is under new ownership, revealed USA Today.
Richard Doherty of Envisioneering told the news outlet, "There's a whole generation that's grown up not sure what RadioShack offers." And says, "If (Cannon) takes an active role and starts messaging that it's not just batteries and cables, it could be the best thing to happen to them in the last two years."
According to CNN, Cannon's job description is more about organizing performances and events, curating the store's music selection and help develop its educational and S.T.E.M. products which consists of science, technology, engineering and math tools. He'll work from the company's base in Ft. Worth, Texas, which will ensure a more leadership role than the average brand ambassadors position.
The America's Got Talent host says, "As a kid, spending time in my neighborhood RadioShack was invaluable. The maker mentality and educational approach taught me a lot and encouraged me to explore my creativity. In return I want to give back by fosterng a creative pursuits in others and helping kids move to the next level."
Nick's track record at NCredible and Teen Nick has been viable. Perhaps this opportunity is just another vehicle to cultivate an entire generation of consumers, who has grown up watching his network.
