Days of Our Lives star Greg Vaughn opened up about his impending and shocking exit from the NBC soap in a recent interview. Despite signing a new contract in August, the hunky star's days at DOOL are officially over.

Thanks to his chat with Serial Scoop fans now have a little more insight as to why Greg Vaughan's exit from Days of Our Lives is happening. In true soap opera form, it is all about the story. Turns out that during his contract negotiations last summer Vaughan was informed that he would simply be needed to finish Eric's storyline, which would take place over a few months. Yes, the actor new well before fans that his time on the show was ending.

Although Vaughan was happy to talk about playing the character of Eric and the powerful storyline ahead, he did not reveal too much on the story that will take him out of Salem. In fact, all he really shared was that Eric's alcohol addiction will play a big part of the story. Fans should be prepared to have their hearts ripped out while watching the story unfold. Not sure what that means but I certainly can't wait to see it all play out. It is obviously no surprise that he is keeping his lips sealed I am sure that the powers that be at DOOL want to keep this one under wraps.

The actor, who has played Eric Brady since 2012, has officially filmed his final scenes and is no longer under contract. There is no official word yet on when Greg Vaughn's final Days of Our Lives scenes will air, something tells me it just might coincide with February sweeps. Both Greg and Eric will be greatly missed when that day comes.
