Creator of the vast and varied Star Wars universe, George Lucas, may not have been involved in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but he did get to see the film before just about anyone else. It was reported that the filmmaker "liked" the new movie, but new reports are pointing out that Lucas never actually said that.

According to THR, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said that Lucas saw the film and "he really liked it," but Lucas himself did not comment on the matter. That is, until this week... kind of.

At the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington where he was being honored for his achievements in arts and culture, Lucas told Vulture, "I think the fans are going to love it. It's very much the kind of movie they've been looking for."

Multiple outlets have noted that Lucas still did not share if he liked the film or not, however, in the past he has had much to say on the ordeal of the franchise going on without him.

Lucas famously sold Lucasfilm to Disney three years ago for a whopping $4 billion. He told the Post that the franchise going on without him was his decision, saying, "You're either the dictator or you're not. And to do that, would never work, so I said 'I'm going to get divorced.' I knew I couldn't be involved."

Furthering with the marriage metaphors, the famous filmmaker likened watching his baby, the franchise, moving on without him to going to a grown child's wedding, saying, "I gotta go to the wedding. My ex will be there, my new wife will be there, but I'm going to have to take a very deep breath and be a good person and sit through it and just enjoy the moment, because it is what it is and it's a conscious decision that I made."

Lucas is said to be attending the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens next week.
