Depeche Mode 2013 Tour Dates Announced for "Delta Machine World Tour"; 80's Band "Enjoy the SIlence." [LIST]
The "silence" is finally broken for the band "Depeche Mode" as they announce their 2013 North American tour dates for their Delta Machine World Tour. With their 13th album "Delta Machine," the 1980's English electronic rock band that brought us hits like "Enjoy the Silence" & "Just Can't Get Enough" will be back in the US and kicking off the North American leg of their world tour this summer, reports USA Today. They'll "touch down" in Detroit for the first show on August 22nd and wrap up on October 8th in Phoenix.
"I'm really looking forward to getting out there and performing," said frontman Dave Gahan in a news release. "There are so many die hard Depeche Mode fans who have been with us every step of this journey that I can't wait to see. I also hope that we gain some new fans with the release of Delta Machine, and I look forward to exposing them to a great Depeche Mode live performance."
Chief songwriter Martin Gore added, "I enjoy being in front of an audience because our songs really take on a life of their own when performed live. When we're performing, the stage almost becomes a mirror for the people who have been there since the beginning, and we become a reflection of our audience. I'm looking forward to this tour for that very reason."
According to Billboard, the band grossed more than $72 million from 59 shows from their last tour in 2009 "Sounds of the Universe." Dave Gahan struggled with health problems at the time including "a severe bout of gastroenteritis and the removal of a malignant tumor from his bladder." He stated that his sickness helped him appreciate working with Gore and multi-instrumentalist Andy Fletcher this time around more than ever before. "I didn't really take in that I had felt pretty sick and managed to get through that. So when the tour was over, I spent a little time reflecting on that."
Their newest album "Delta Machine," is set to release on Mar. 26 under their new label home Columbia Records. Billboard states that this record was created under unusual circumstances for the veteran alt-rock group. After years of well-documented infighting, the band members were "downright giddy" working with each other.
This "giddyness" is expected to carry over to the band's performances during their world tour this summer. Check out their tour dates below if you "just can't get enough" of Depeche Mode.
