Mumford and Sons 'Whispers in The Dark' Music Video, Follows 'Day in the Life' of Folk Rockers
Marcus Mumford and Co. have certainly kept busy since releasing "Album of the Year" Babel last fall.
They performed their smash hit "I Will Wait" at the Grammys, Marcus Mumford collaborated with Justin Timberlake while working on the soundtrack for 60s Folk Explosion flick "Inside Llewyn Davis", spoke to Rolling Stone about how they want to make a rap album and, of course, have toured relentlessly in support of Babel.
Mumford and Sons are currently on the international leg of their world tour before returning to the US for their series of "Gentleman of the Road Stopovers" with bands such as Alabama Shakes, Old Crow Medicine Show and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. The stopovers target small towns such as Troy, Ohio, and St. Augustine, Fla.
Somewhere in there, they found time to craft a music video for their song "Whispers in the Dark." The Jim Canty-helmed video is shot in a Goldeneye-esque four-way split screen and seems to recount a day in the life of Mumford and Sons as they get ready to perform a gig. There's Marcus Mumford and the other three members you probably can't name (Winston Marshall, Ben Lovett, and Ted Dwane) going about their lives in separate little boxes before the four finally merge at the end of the video with via the power of a group bro hug.
I, for one, call BS. This can't be a "day in the life" video because it contains a grand total of zero visits to the vest store or mandolin manufacturer. Maybe they'll show up in the director's cut. Check out the video below.
What do you think of the video? Are you a fan of Mumford and Sons? Did you like Babel? Are you ready for the neo-folk thing to be over with yet?
