Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to Produce New NFL Docuseries
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been making a name for himself as a television producer of all things sports related. He went from professional wrestler, to action starand now television producer and partner at Seven Bucks Productions with Dany Garcia. The duo has teamed up with Left/Right Productions and Athletes First management to produce a new untitled reality show about amateur athletes trying to go pro and the agents that represent them.
The Bethleham, Pennsylvanian not only acts but also produces the hit HBO series entitled Ballers but has gained a wealth of experience in the busiiness of football, since he has played the sport in both high school and at the University of Miami.
He told Variety, "As a former high school All American football player and collegate National Champion at University of Miami, I know how determined and relentlessly hard these athletes work and we're inspired to share their stories. This season will show the commitment and heart required to achieve your dreams."
Garcia added, "this level of story-telling at such a critical time in these athletes' lives. Raw, passionate and honest, the docu-series aligns perfectly with our Seven Bucks brand ethos and mission."
The San Andreas star is making his mark with qualified television producers like Left/Right, who produced VH1's Mob Wives, Bravo's Odd Mom Out and Donny! on USA.
Co-founder Banks Tarver says, "It is a true honor to work with partners of this caliber on such a great project. Dwayne, Dany, Seven Bucks and Athletes First are the best at what they do-we are happy to be in the mix."
And if that isn't enough for partners Garcia and Johnson, they've recently announced that they're producing a marching band docu-soap for network FUSE with 44 Blue Productions.
Perhaps, creating inspiring content for the big or small screen could be The Rock's latest talent and according to The Morning Call, in 2013 Forbes says "his movies generated $1.3 billion in ticket sales." Why wouldn't he capitalize off of his own talent and ambition? The producer hat might be a good look for the actor's career. He seems to have all of the networks lined up for his shows.
