18-Year-Old Simone Biles Named U.S. Female Olympic Athlete of the Year
Congrats are in order for 18-year-old gymnast, Simone Biles. MStars News has learned that she was named U.S. Female Olympic Athlete of the Year.
In the above photo, Biles wrote while holding her winner's trophy: "I want to thank everyone who voted for me, I wouldn't be where I am today without you all. And also congratulate all the other nominees. I would have never thought of being in the same category as the other athletes. Big congratulations to all of the other award winners tonight. Together we are TeamUSA!"
According to Hello Beautiful, Biles has already had a wonderful career. She won the 2015 World Gymnastic Championships earlier this year, and was recently awarded one of the highest awards an American athlete could have.
On Thursday, the 18-year-old was named the winner of Team USA's Female Olympic Athlete of the Year. Biles won over the tennis great, Serena Williams, and nine-time world champion swimmer Katie Ledecky. Biles is the first woman to win ten career world championship gold medals and four golds at consecutive world championships.
She is currently working with gold medalist Gabby Douglass to prepare for the Olympic trials next summer for her chance to win a spot on the U.S. team that will travel to Rio for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
