Rohit Shetty Remaking 'Ram-Lakhan': Shah Rukh Khan Not Part of Film?
Though Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and director Rohit Shetty have worked together in blockbuster films such as Chennai Express (2013) and Dilwale in the past, Khan has reportedly said that he won't be starring in Shetty's adaptation of Ram Lakhan.
The original film was directed by Subhash Ghai and it starred Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Madhuri Dixit and Dimple Kapadia. It followed the story of two brothers, Ram (Shroff) and Lakhan (Kapoor), who take the revenge of their father's death from their two corrupt uncles.
At a recent Stardust Awards, when a reported asked Khan about his collaboration with Shetty in Ram Lakhan remake, the 50-year-old Khan said he is not a part of the venture. The actor was quoted by The Huffington Post, saying, "No. I don't think I am cast in the film. I wish [Rohit] all the best," Khan said.
Dilwale is doing great at the box-office and according to Indian Express, the film has earned $18.2 million dollars in just the first weekend in spite of having several protests against Khan's intolerance remark. According to Times of India, many political parties in India boycotted the film and because of that, there were few places where Dilwale shows were cancelled. When a reported asked about the response the Raees actor said that he is very happy with the amount of response his film is getting.
"I am very happy [with the response]. I want the families to go and watch as there were 2-3 places where they couldn't watch it. Hopefully, things will be better in 4-5 days and more people will come and watch the film," Khan further added.
Khan has two films lined up for 2016. In Rahul Dholakia's Raees, he will be seeing playing the role of a Mafia, and in Maneesh Sharma's Fan, he will be seen in double avatars.
