6 Questions From 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' to be Answered In 'Episode VIII'
The highly-anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens has finally hit theaters! Although the film answered several important questions about the ongoing saga, it also posed new questions about the future of our beloved characters. But will we get the answers in Episode VIII?
We already know where Luke Skywalker is, but now what will happen to the last Jedi Master? Will he train Rey to be the next Jedi? How about Finn? And did Kylo Ren survive his injuries?
Here are six important questions that should be addressed in Rian Johnson's sequel to The Force Awakens.
Will Luke Skywalker Train Rey to be a Jedi?
The last scene in the film seemed to have an obvious answer, but what if Luke decides that he is done with training more Jedis? After all, the last Jedi he tried to train was slaughtered by his own nephew and who would want to risk that happening all over again? Nevertheless, there is hope that Episode VIII will mirror Luke's Jedi training with Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back. In addition to that, we may even be treated to Rey's origin story (see last entry).
Will Finn Return in Episode VIII?
Why not? Finn may have suffered some serious injuries during his lightsaber duel with Ren, but John Boyega has already been reported to be helping audition actresses for a female lead role in the sequel. There's a huge chance the rogue Stormtrooper has survived to star in a second film and since he's helping screen the ladies, he might even get himself a love interest now that Rey is off training with Luke! What would his friend think about that?
Will Kylo Ren Complete His Final Test?
Although committing patricide may already seem like a pretty huge task for a villain, it sounded like Supreme Leader Snoke has bigger plans for Ren. The son of Han Solo struggled with his mission (because who wouldn't?) but still managed to pull it off in the most depressing scene in the entire film.
But now that THAT is over and Ren has fully embraced the Dark Side, the next question could only be this:
What is his Final Test?
Will Ren need to kill his mother as well? Or perhaps slaughter everyone who is with the Resistance? A plausible answer would be to defeat the new Jedi, something that he already failed to do when he went up against Rey. Although Ren wasn't trying to kill Rey on Starkiller Base and was trying to convince her to join him in the Dark Side, that just leads to another important question.
What is Rey's Connection To Kylo Ren?
There have already been speculations that Rey and Ren are actually brother and sister, although the film seems to point to the two characters not being related. After all, shouldn't Han recognize his own daughter? Leia seemed to recognize Rey after she returned from Starkiller Base, but there was no tearful mother/daughter reunion at all.
The only clear answer is that Rey WAS in fact in the Jedi Temple when Ren attacked, but was somehow saved and sent to Jakku to be kept hidden so Ren couldn't find her.
Who Sent Rey to Jakku?
It could be another Jedi who sensed the potential in the little girl. And since there are no other Jedi left, the person who may have saved Rey could be Luke himself. After all, it sounds like something he would do after being sent to a desert planet when he was a baby. Hopefully, Rey's origin story will be revealed by Luke in Episode VIII.
All the answers will (hopefully) finally be revealed when Episode VIII hits theaters in May 26, 2017.
