'24' Movie Dead According To Rumored Director Antoine Fuqua
The hopes and dreams of countless Jack Bauer fans have been collectively crushed by director Antoine Fuqua.
Fuqua, who at one point was slated to direct a movie adaptation of beloved FOX television hit 24, told Indiewire "Yeah, that's not happening."
I don't think it's gonna happen at all, definitely not with me." Fuqua added.
Fans have been clamoring for a 24 movie ever since its 2010 exit. According to Fuqua, the doomed project failed for a number of reasons including problems with scheduling and contractual quagmire's between Fox and Sutherland.
"I met with Kiefer. Fox wanted to do it. It was a matter of his schedule before he went off to do his new show [Touch]." Fuqua said.
Eventually, Fuqua abandoned the project.
The time just passed, and I went off to go to what I was doing," he said.
The movie was reportedly going to be the first of a trilogy and take Agent Bauer to Europe according to the Guardian.
Last year, Sutherland revealed that there was a shooting schedule in place for the film but said that the timeframe in which he had to shoot the movie (between seasons of his current project "Touch") was "unrealistic for Fox."
"We knew we were coming back so there was a very finite window for me to make the film, to try to prep it, cast it and all of those other things," he said.
Fuqua, most well-known for his 2001 movie "Training Day" has moved on to other projects including his current film "Southpaw" and potential films about the lives of rapper Tupac Shakur and jazz composer and trumpet player Miles Davis.
What do you think? Would you like to see Bauer on the big screen? Should Fox have worked harder to meet Sutherland's needs? Did Fuqua abandon the project too soon?
