'Pretty Little Liars' Ending After Season 7?! Creator Marlene King Says...
Variety reported Tuesday that Pretty Little Liars creator Marlene King indicated that season 7 of the ABC Family drama would be its final season. Now, King is tweeting that she "did not say" she would like for the show to end and is setting the record straight on what she meant.
The quote in question came from Variety, which printed the following:
Now, with a revamped storyline on the horizon - the new episodes kick off a five-year time jump, resulting in a more mature "Pretty Little Liars" world - King says she would like for Season 7 to be the last.
"I think that this story when we're back will end next year at the end of Season 7," King told Variety this week when asked if the time jump gives the series more legs to continue. Then asked, "So you definitely want it to end at the end of Season 7, and don't want it to go beyond that?" King replied: "Correct."
Now, King is denying the quote. She took to Twitter to tell fans what exactly she meant by the confusing quote. She said:
King further clarified for fans that she was supposed to say "the new big bad" in the tweet, but in the spirit of full disclosure went ahead and revealed the "big bad" to be Uber A.
Whether or not season 7 ends up being the last, King also told Variety earlier this year that she is open to the idea of a PLL movie, but they are leaving that decision up to the fans. Should fans clamor for it, King says, "Yes, we're in."
The second half of season 6 of the show returns on Jan. 12. Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell and Sasha Pieterse all star.
