Katy Perry Book Rumors? "Wide Awake" Singer Reportedly Signs Autobiography Deal for $3 Million to Spill on Ex Russell Brand
Rumors are surfacing that the "Wide Awake" singer Katy Perry signed a book deal reportedly worth $3.2 million. British tabloids reported Thursday that the pop star penned the autobiography deal, while the singer's rep tells E! News that this is not true. Is Perry following in ex husband Russell Brand's footsteps and writing a memoir of her own to expose the details of their 14-month marriage? The conflicting reports on this matter seem to still be "Hot & Cold."
Last month, British comedian Russell Brand revealed that he was writing another memoir following his two "Booky Work" autobiographies: 2007's My Booky Wook and its 2010 follow-up, Booky Wook 2: This Time It's Personal, which was dedicated to Perry. The newest book will apparently touch on his 14-month marriage to his ex Perry. Following this news, The Sun announced that the "California Gurl" is going to be releasing a book this year as well, in order to give her own side of the story regards their short-lived marriage.
A source tells the publication, "Several publishers have been after Katy for a while. She decided to go ahead so fans don't have a one-sided story when Russell publishes another 'Booky Wook.'"
The "I Kissed a Girl" hitmaker's book is allegedly set to be called "Part Of Me," the same title as her 2012 concert film, and it will cover her career and personal life, including her relationship with ex-husband Russell Brand and current romance with John Mayer, according to Britain's The Sun.
Perry has reportedly agreed to tackle the subject of her divorce from Brand head on, but it will hardly be the first time she's publicly discussed the breakup. The singer's 3-D concert movie featured a one-sided account of the divorce that framed Brand as the one who wasn't willing to put in the time and travel required to keep the marriage strong, notes Huffington Post.
Despite these reports from the Britain tabloids, E! News reported today that Katy Perry's rep denied the rumored book deal with no furter details regarding the matter.
Russell Brand and Katy Perry met during the summer of 2009 and eventually started dating after that year's MTV Awards in the fall. The "whirlwind romance" consisted of the pair getting engaged by the end of that year followed by getting married in October 2010 in a traditional Hindu ceremony. However by the end of 2011, the relationship fell apart and the divorce between the pair was eventually finalized last summer, reports the Sun.
Katy's current relationship with John Mayer seems to be going strong and is reportedly getting pretty serious. What's Katy's current boyfriend's thoughts about her alleged autobiography? Perhaps the soulful singer will encourage his girlfriend to "say what [she] needs to say" in order to finally close the chapter of Perry's life involving Brand.
