Craig Strickland Missing: Country Singer's Dog Found Alive
Craig Strickland was declared a missing person on Monday morning, December 28 and now his wife Helen Strickland revealed that they found the singer's dog, Sam, alive on Tuesday afternoon. This somehow relieved Strickland's family and friends, believing that finding Sam is a "good sign."
“Craig’s dog being found alive is a very good sign,” Strickland’s bandmate, Toby Freeman, told PEOPLE magazine in an interview. “Sam’s an older lab and for him to make it in such harsh conditions — it’s just so amazing and we’re clinging on to that.”
Helen Strickland also took to Twitter for updates as the search for her husband continues.
“For everyone wanting to know, Sam is fine,” she shared on Tuesday, along with a picture of the Labrador retriever. “He was a brave boy. He wouldn't leave Chase's body until the Warden found him.”
The Backroad Anthem frontman has been missing for days when he and his friend Chase Morland went duck hunting in Oklahoma. Morland's body was found over the weekend. Authorities discovered their boat capsized but no sign of Strickland.
Just hours before the two set out, Morland eerily tweeted: "In case we don't come back, @BackroadCRAIG and I are going right through Winter Storm Goliath to kill ducks in Oklahoma."
The band took to their Facebook page revealing the sad news that Morland was found dead and they followed up by saying that the search is still on going for the lead singer.
Unfortunately the search was called off due to the weather conditions.
The band is asking its fans to pray for Strickland's safe return, posting on their Facebook page "The power of prayer is huge. #prayersforCraig #powerofprayer"
