Deepika Padukone to Romance Ranbir Kapoor in Rajkumar Hirani's Biopic on Sanjay Dutt?
Bollywood director Rajkumar Hirani's biopic on Sanjay Dutt is gathering steam for the cast that the director wants to assemble in the project. Tamasha star Ranbir Kapoor is already on board and now there are reports that Bajirao Mastani star and Ranbir's ex-girlfriend, Deepika Padukone will also sign onto the project.
According to web portal Spotboye, Padukone has liked the script but she will only comment on it after she will be back in town from her New Year's break.
It was also reported that Queen actress, Kangana Ranaut, will also star in Dutt's biopic. The web portal added that Ranaut was spotted visiting Hirani's house in Mumbai with a bound script and there are reports that she will play the role of Manyata, Dutt's wife, in the film.
On the other hand, Ranbir is undergoing a physical transformation for the project. When in a recent press event, he was asked about his training session for Hirani's upcoming film. The actor was quoted by DNA India as responding:
"I still don't know how much I will have to pile on. When me and Raju sir sit down for discussion, maybe we will talk about it and I would know exactly how much weight I have to gain."
If Padukone agrees to do the film, then she might play the role that will be a mix of Dutt's former wife, Richa Sharma and former girlfriend, Tina Ambani. There are also reports that Kareena Kapoor Khan, who is a real life cousin of Ranbir, will play the role of Dutt's sister and megastar, Amitabh Bachchan, will play the role of Dutt's late father, Sunil Dutt.
The 53-year-old Dutt, who was convicted in the 1993 Mumbai Blasts case for illegal possession of weapons, is currently serving the rest of his sentence in Yerwarda Central Prison, reported NDTV. When Hirani was asked about what they are going to show in the film, the Munnabhai MBBS director was quoted by Indian Express as responding:
"I was skeptical initially as underworld part is not one of my favourite worlds. When Abhijat Joshi and I sat with Sanjay for 25 days and discovered that we want to say this story because it was a human story."
