John Stamos Talks Getting a Woman Pregnant, Rehab for Ambien & Alcohol, DUI Arrest
John Stamos is dropping bombshells. In a new interview, the actor is telling all about that infamous DUI arrest and rehab stint for alcohol and Ambien addition, as well as another major shocker: he got a woman pregnant in his late 20's.
The actor opened up to Howard Stern during an interview for Stern's SiriusXM radio show on Monday.
When Stern point-blank asked the actor, a known bachelor with no children, if he'd ever gotten a woman pregnant, Stamos replied that he had and that ultimately, the woman got an abortion. "I'm careful and I have been careful. This was just bad timing. It really wasn't my choice ... I think it was sort of a mutual decision," he said of the incident.
Stamos also opened up to Stern about last year's DUI arrest, which he says he is really "embarrassed" about. He says the arrest opened his eyes and was the final step to going to rehab.
"I could have hurt somebody. It was really stupid and ignorant of me and I hated myself for that," he said. "It was time to go."
The actor went on to detail his time in rehab, saying that letting go of alcohol was the easy part. Letting go of Ambien, however, was difficult for the actor.
"I'm so happy to be off that," he said. "[Ambien is] super dangerous. ... My memory was starting to get really f**ked up too from that. ... [It was] difficult to memorize scripts, I couldn't remember names and faces and things. That was the hardest thing to kick, by the way. Booze, that happened. Ambien was tough."
The actor, who says he is now clean and sober, is gearing up for the release of his show Fuller House, the sequel to the famous sitcom Full House which made Stamos and the Olsen twins household names. He opened up to Jimmy Fallon Monday about the show.
Stamos told Fallon on The Tonight Show that reuniting with everyone for the show was "so fun." "It was just like a family reunion where some of the family members didn't show up," the actor joked, presumably in reference to the fact that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen opted out of returning to the show, despite the rest of the cast coming back.
Fuller House debuts on Netflix February 26.
