Bobbie Smith Dies: Spinners Lead Singer Passes Away At 76 From Lung Cancer

Former lead Singer of Soul group The Spinners Bobbie Smith has passed away in Orlando, Fla. at the age of 76.

Smith, who was diagnosed with lung cancer in November, passed away on Saturday due to complications from influenza and pneumonia, according to a statement fromt the manager of the group.

Smith sang lead vocals on their firsy hit "That's what Girls Are Made For."

Occasionally referred to as the Detroit Spinners, the group had a nice run of success throughout the 70s. During that time, they scored almost a dozen gold records and six Grammy nominations. The Spinners biggest hits were the tracks "I'll Be Around", "Could it Be I'm Falling In Love" and "Games People Play".
