'Star Wars' Update: Has Felicity Jones' 'Rogue One' Character Name Finally Been Revealed?
Not much is known about the characters in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, so fans have come up with several theories about who Felicity Jones will play in the film. However, a casting site may have revealed the name of the female lead character in the movie!
MakingStarWars.net has found a casting credit for Gabriele Fritz, which indicates that the actress is in Rogue One and is the photo double of a character named "Lyra Erso." Since photo doubles are usually only used for major characters and there are no other female leads (so far) in the film, the fan site has made the connection that Fritz could be Jones' double and Jones' character could be named Lyra Erso. However, it is best to take the information with a grain of salt until Disney or Lucasfilm confirms anything.
Her name may still be unknown, but that hasn't stopped fans from speculating about the identity of Jones' character in Rogue One. One popular (and somehow questionable) theory is that the actress will be playing Boba Fett's daughter in the film, although that would seem impossible since she appears to be only a few years younger than the bounty hunter in The Empire Strikes Back.
It may still be awhile before the identity of Jones' character will be known, but the names of the other Rogue One characters may have already been leaked. The CV for Sherlock star Jonathan Aris had previously indicated that he will be playing "Senator Jebel" while Hannibal actor Mads Mikkelsen may have revealed that his character is named "Galen."
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and will be released on December 16.
