Harry Potter actress Emma Watson has turned into one of the faces of international feminism since she gave an amazing speech at the United Nations' launch of the He For She campaign. Over a year later, the British star proves once again how much like Hermione Granger she really is; she just launched a feminist book club on Twitter!
According to USA Today, the 25-year-old recently took to the social network to ask her fans what they thought would be a good name for a feminist book club, sharing a couple of extremely uncreative choices so everyone else would brainstorm some better ones.
Hi Team, I want to start a feminist book club but so far have only brainstormed 'Feminist Book Club' and 'Emma Watson Book Club'.

I've decided to go with 'Our Shared Shelf'. @emilyfabb - I absolutely loved this. Thank you, thank you x — Emma Watson (@EmWatson) January 7, 2016
Of course, the Internet is filled with bright and incredible people, so someone came up with "Our Shared Shelf" and the soon-to-be Disney princess said she loved the idea.
The Guardian reports that a few big stars have already voiced their support for the project, including recently retired Team U.S. soccer player Abby Wamback, singer Kate Voegele, feminist author Gloria Steinem and actress Sophia Bush, and the Perks of Being a Wallflower actress agreed to also invite Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling as well as superstar, Taylor Swift.
As of this week, Watson's book club is already up and running, and the first material chosen was My Life on the Road from controversial Gloria Steinem.
"There is so much amazing stuff out there! Funny, inspiring, sad, thought-provoking, empowering," posted Watson on GoodReads. "I've been discovering so much that, at times, I've felt like my head was about to explode... I decided to start a Feminist book club, as I want to share what I'm learning and hear your thoughts too."
In the Harry Potter series, Hermione finds out about the poor treatment house elves receive from their masters and creates an organization called the Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare (S.P.E.W.) to protect them -- at this point, it's almost as if Watson's copying out the character that made her famous!
