Reports confirm that a six-year-old boy from Greene, Maine died early Wednesday morning (March 20) after his dad tragically struck him with a snow plow truck. Young Nathan Capponi was playing on his scooter in the family driveway when his father Kevin Capponi began backing up his large pickup after clearing the snowy pavement. Kevin did not see his son zooming along on his two-wheeled cycle, and accidentally hit him.
Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland released in a statement that little Nathan was promptly transported by ambulance to the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston after the accident occurred at the Capponi's Quaker Ridge Road home at approximately 6:45 a.m. He was pronounced dead shortly after, having fallen victim to the severe wounds from the violent blow.
"The boy was on a scooter playing in his driveway as his father was backing up the truck," McCausland said.
The father, 36-year-old Kevin Capponi, was nearly done finished plowing the driveway when the tragic incident occurred.
Thoughts and condolences go out to the Capponi family during this time of tragedy.
